Philosophy Info Session

Shawn Klein April 13th, 2009

Still deciding on a major?

How about Philosophy?

Other majors give you in-depth knowledge about a certain discipline, but philosophy prepares you for life.

Philosophy has serious practical value:

  • Philosophy helps you develop vital intellectual and personal skills, such as problem-solving, organizing and processing complex information, judgment, and self-knowledge
  • Philosophy majors score significantly better on standardized tests than students in other majors
  • Philosophy prepares you for a wide variety of careers: academia, law, politics, business, writing
  • Many famous and successful people are Philosophy majors: Thomas Jefferson, Rudi Giuliani, President Bill Clinton, George Soros, Richard Gere, Harrison Ford, Bruce Lee, Phil Jackson, and Steve Martin, to name a few.

Join the Philosophy Department at
2 PM on Thursday, April 16th at the
Center for Ethics and Entrepreneurship,
Burpee Second floor, next to the BSMS office.

We will gladly discuss our Major and Minor requirements, advise you on opportunities for a graduate degree in philosophy, and answer any questions you have.
