As many of you know, my son was born last week. So, I am behind on final grades. I’m working as fast as I can to get them completed. These should all be done by mid-week.
Here’s a picture of Samuel Eli (7 lbs, 4 oz):

Still deciding on a major?
How about Philosophy?
Other majors give you in-depth knowledge about a certain discipline, but philosophy prepares you for life.
Philosophy has serious practical value:
- Philosophy helps you develop vital intellectual and personal skills, such as problem-solving, organizing and processing complex information, judgment, and self-knowledge
- Philosophy majors score significantly better on standardized tests than students in other majors
- Philosophy prepares you for a wide variety of careers: academia, law, politics, business, writing
- Many famous and successful people are Philosophy majors: Thomas Jefferson, Rudi Giuliani, President Bill Clinton, George Soros, Richard Gere, Harrison Ford, Bruce Lee, Phil Jackson, and Steve Martin, to name a few.
Interested in learning more?
Join the Philosophy Department at
2 PM on Thursday, April 16th at the
Center for Ethics and Entrepreneurship,
Burpee Second floor, next to the BSMS office.
We will gladly discuss our Major and Minor requirements, advise you on opportunities for a graduate degree in philosophy, and answer any questions you have.

I thought some of my students woud be interested in this tidbit. I was quoted in the April issue of Wired Magazine in in Brendan I. Koerner’s Mr. Know-It-All column.
